Functioning As Always

Things in our family per say are never normal, and dang sure not easy to deal with and hard as hell to live with. Every year it's always something traumatic or tragic to deal with and if you are not careful bitterness and resentment will kill the joy in your soul.

Most people spend their lives asking Why Me? I have tried to instill in our family why not me?

We work very hard to find happiness in life and even harder to choose joy.

We are determined to find humor in everything that happens in life because sometimes there's nothing you can do but laugh.

So my daughter and grandchildren have been raised with a wicked sense of humor and to remember to find the rainbows during the storms of life.

Yesterday I texted the kiddos and my daughter asked what they would like for Christmas, that time was running out.

So, I waited...

The first reply was from Hunter, my grandson who was born blind and has been an extremely ill person all his life. Who has fought more life and death battles for survival than most people will in three lifetimes, but he still laughs, finds joy and finds the rainbows in life.

His response to me was: I've got my non-functioning eyes on a kickass guitar. Can't remember the name of it, but will send you the link. Also, I wouldn't mind receiving an iTunes gift card.

Taylor pipes in with I have got my functioning eyes on a new longboard that I would be more than happy to show you next time I see you.

Austin also chimes in with well I have my all seeing eyes on a new gaming system.

This family cracks me up and makes me laugh on my worse days. Most people don't get it and are appalled at our humor at times, but what good is living if you don't laugh and smile each day?

You won't always have a reason to laugh so you just must dig deep and find one or better yet make a reason!

Today I'm grateful that my family and I never live a day that we feel is wasted!
