It's Been

It’s been one long year
Since you said goodbye to us
Seems like yesterday

Many things have changed
The saddest thing to change is
You don’t do Hauki’s

You are missed, dear friend
More than you could ever know
Rest in peace, Michael.

Mountains

Mountains of debris
that line the streets of my town
Represents our lives.

Birds Still Sing

The water is gone
Life will never be the same
And the birds still sing.

Will We Heal

Hurricane Harvey
Destroyed so many lives.
Will we ever heal?

Grateful

Sipping my coffee.
Devastation all around.
My world feels destroyed.

Truck bed in our yard.
A baby bed never moves.
A bird’s nest is safe.

Grateful for blessings.
No ending of this in sight.
Life continues on.

Home Sweet Home

Three feet deep water
Hot bath and clean pj’s
Sigh's, my home sweet home.

Haiku Friday

It is Friday, Michael, and I am trying my best to honor your special day for Haiku. I will not even pretend that I know what I am doing, I just allow my fingers to type out the words my heart thinks of.

Sipping my coffee.
Devastation all around.
My world feels destroyed.

Truck bed in our yard.
A baby bed never moves.
A bird’s nest is safe.

Grateful for blessings.
No ending of this in sight.
Life continues on.

Today I am grateful that your memory encourages me just as you did as my friend for all of those years.

Wind Chimes

Scary winds blowing.
Bayou waters rising fast.
My wind chimes soothe me.

Spondyville

A Celebratory Haiku for Michael Smith and Greenberg Victoria and of course for all of us! I am not sure this meets the standards or criteria of Michael's beautiful Haiku's.
But here it goes.....

Memories were lost.
A sister takes on Yahoo.
Spondyville is saved!

Never doubt true love
That is shared between siblings.
It will always win!

Vicky can relax!
Michael’s legacy is back!
Michael, rests in peace.

Michael Smith

AS Warrior
A lifetime dedicated
No longer exists

A life suffering
Raising AS awareness
Broken hearts are left.

If you can read this
That means you matter to me

No Clue

Your laugh of the day
They say I can do Haiku's
I don't have a clue!

New Day

This day is brand new
We must be present always
Or what is the use?

It's Haiku Friday

Michael I know it's your day for your weekly haiku's and I miss the beauty, wisdom, and joy in them. I never could figure out how to write them or what they should be about but Friday is the day I find that I miss you the most.

So today has been extremely hard knowing the reality of you being gone that this is forever.

So in honor of you and your love of haiku's here is my first attempt and the best medicine for you today Michael, is I have no clue if I did it correctly or not.

I hope so in honor of you but mostly I hope not so the heavens will be filled with your chuckles and laughter at my first attempt.

Friday is the worst…
I’m reminded of our loss…..
Rest in peace, Michael….

Today I am grateful to a man who spent his whole life making us laugh, teaching us we can do this and trying to show the world what it is like to live with Ankylosing Spondylitis.

It's Friday

I look forward to Fridays because Michael shares his new Haiku with all of us. I have been giving it a shot, not to sure how I am managing but I am giving it my best. Here is mine for today.

Yesterday is yesterday: forget it.
Today is today: live it.
Tomorrow is tomorrow: Hope for it.

Today I am grateful for my AS community and all the wonderful people I have come in contact with them and the beautiful things they bring to my life, like Haiku Fridays.
