Birthday Girl

Today I went to the hair salon to treat myself and what a treat it ended up being.
I wish I had asked for a picture or had been cool enough to 'sneak' one.

While sitting in the chair I noticed a sweet little old lady come in.
They were seated right next to me, the lady brought back wonderful memories of my Granny Irene.
In fact, she was getting her hair styled the exact same way my granny used to wear it.
I closed my eyes and let the warmth of memories fill my heart.
Later on, I discovered she comes here once a week or so. I also learned that she had 4 birthday parties this year! You go Granny!

I also discovered she is 101 years old born in 1916!
The greatest discovery is she shares the same birthday as my grandson Hunter, at least the day!

A little while later I spoke to her stylist and arranged to pay for her treatment today.

I had front row seat to the excitement of a stranger paying for her services and how sweet and happy she looked. It was so much fun and heartwarming to see.
Then I heard I am not leaving until I know who did this, and she sounded like she would unpack and live there until someone told her.

I got up to meet her halfway and her voice was filled with so much love.
Her hug transported me back to a little girl, sitting on the counter watching her granny bake cookies.
Her smell transported me back to the times I hugged my sweet granny.

And for just a moment I was a young woman hugging her granny Irene.
I was blessed to already be a grandmother when I said goodbye to my Granny.

Today was such an amazing blessing that I will be forever grateful for my stand in Granny.

I plan to run into her again, next time I will get pictures!
