Today I would like to just take a moment and say thank you.
To whom? You!
There are hundreds of thousands of people who should be hugged and thanked today.
It would take four lifetimes to thank everyone.
To those first responders who had no clue if their own families were safe but went to work anyway to protect and serve.
Thank you!
To those who left the comfort of their homes to come to our community to help people you have never met.
Thank you!
To those of you while in the midst of your own destruction you stopped to help someone else.
Thank you!
For all of those of you who prayed, feared for us, sent us good vibes and well wishes, who took a moment out of your day to think of us.
Thank you!
To all of you who donated your time, material things or money even when you didn't have it to give.
Thank you!
There is no way to say everything that needs to be said, but thank you!
I'm grateful that in the middle of all this devastation and destruction what I will walk away with is...
The beauty of the human spirit and the compassion of strangers.
Hurricane Harvey, you were cruel in the wake of destruction but you left such beauty when you left.
The beauty of love, kindness, and compassion.
