We received the good news today that Ivanhoe’s double hipped surgery was a complete success, and he is expected to make a full recovery. I can not believe that after six years of working on this project that the day of victory is finally here. So many times, it seemed impossible that we were ever make this a reality, but we did it, with the help and kindness of so many people. I am so excited for Ivanhoe’s future but my heart breaks for the pain and anguish he must continue to endure to reach his full potential.
For those of you who do not know Ivanhoe is one of our AS brothers
who lives in the Philippines. He is completely fused in the spine, shoulders
and hips and is unable to care for himself. Janelle one of our AS sisters began
trying to find him a surgeon that would help him. After many years Patty and I
joined her quest to make this happen.
Today I am grateful that my faith in humanity is restored,
my faith in the medical society and just the kindness of others. Today I am so
grateful for Ivanhoe and his bravery and his continued faith in all of us.
