Today We Say Goodbye

Almost six years ago we received a phone call from my niece telling us she had found a baby squirrel in the parking lot at her work. My daughter rushed over there to find an approximately three day old squirrel. The veterinarian report was not a good one, broken jaw that would have to heal on it's own.
My daughter worked diligently around the clock to save this little creature, who ended up being named "Peanut" because she was about the size of a peanut.

She thrived with all the love and attention this family had to give her and became such a loved and valued member of this family.

Today we say goodbye to this sweet loving baby, who would fight you to the death for Oreo Cookies or Cheetos's or who would make deafening racket to be let out of her cage to have her morning coffee with you.

Today I am grateful to have a daughter who's heart and compassion is as large as Texas and to been able to say I was Peanut's nanny for six years.

Rest in peace Peanut.
