Another Man's Treasure

Today has been very productive, enjoyed riding in the new Bow Wow Wagon. Cleaned up the rest of the "debris" from Hurricane Harvey. There is no evidence left in my yard that a major ca strophic hurricane came through except for the water lines and mildewing wood on the house, other than that no evidence at all.

Except when you look at the street, you see all these huge piles of "trash" waiting for heavy trash pickup to come along and clean it up.

I think what bothers me most about all of this experience is the piles of "trash" that is seen in abundance no matter where you drive in our area or out of our area.

Those piles of trash consist of people's hard work, their dreams, their memories, maybe the only things they have left of loved ones... all piled out at the street, decaying, and waiting to be picked up.

Every time I look at them I think of the phrase of

"One's mans trash is another man's treasure." Nothing truer than that statement after a national disaster. People who watch the news from all over the world only see piles of trash, but those of us hauling it out to the streets only see our treasures. ( I had considered showing the photos but felt like I would be exploiting peoples heartbreak.)

Today I am most grateful for those people who will be driving by and picking up what is left of our lives, who deal with the stench and the grossness that now the only thing left.

Someone once said to someone I loved, you will only grow up to be a garbage man like that was an insult.

Garbage men make the world a beautiful place because without them all that would be left is the trash of your life sitting on the street.

Today is also the anniversary of Sara's passing who inspired me to Choose Joy even during the most difficult times of my life.

Today I am grateful for so many things in my life.
